Are you looking for a job that works for you?
Waking Nights Support Workers are there for our customers through the night, and as such receive an enhanced salary starting from £12.20 per hour. We have a customer in the Stanley, West Yorkshire area, with Down Syndrome, who needs to add to their support team.
In particular, we need Female Support Workers that are available to work Waking Night shifts. This is due to the support needs of the customers and considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
What is a waking night?
Some of the people we support need extra assistance through the night. A waking night Support Worker is there to provide help as needed, which could include taking medication, providing reassurance, personal care, or carrying out household tasks (e.g. cleaning, dusting, laundry etc.).
You will need to be awake the whole night, checking regularly on the person you are supporting to make sure they have a comfortable night’s sleep and are safe.
This hugely rewarding role is crucial to the wellbeing of people who need care and support; when people have a safe and comfortable night, they can make the most of their days. You will make that possible for people in your community.
As an Avalon Support Worker you will have a role that offers:
Flexibility – with hours that work for you; full time, part time and casual hours can be offered, respecting any commitments you have
Guaranteed income and job security – hourly rates start at £11.50 with enhanced rates for evenings and weekends, plus paid mileage and lots of great benefits. Our charity is almost 30 years old, and provides you a secure role with scope to develop.
A friendly team – We live our values of respect, honesty, learning & development, inclusion and partnership working – you’ll be working with people who want the best for you and will help you with anything you need.
Meaningful work – you will literally change people’s lives for the better every day, improving your community and providing you with a feeling of fulfilment. As a Support worker you will help people with disabilities or additional needs to live the life they choose, supporting with daily living skills, attending appointments, finding work and much more.
You don’t need previous experience or qualifications, just to care about people and to want to make a difference. You will build meaningful and lasting relationships with the people you support. You won’t have to do short visits, as our sessions are always a minimum of 1 hour, with many being longer than this to make sure both you and our customers are fulfilled every day.
Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate.
