Support Worker (Female), Northallerton

Due to the terms of our sponsorship licence, we are currently not able to accept applications from those requiring sponsorship. Please only apply if you are already a resident in the UK with no sponsorship requirements.

We are looking for Support Workers in the Stokesley and Northallerton areas, to support within supported living properties. Full time and part time hours to include mornings, evenings, weekends and possible sleepover shifts. Support may include personal care, regular social events such as parties, bowling, attending local groups, daily living tasks, medication, shopping etc.

In particular, we need Female Support Workers that are available to work flexibly and must be a car driver due to the support locations. This is due to the support needs of the customers and considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

As an Avalon Support Worker you will have a role that offers:

Flexibility – with hours that work for you; full time, part time and casual hours can be offered, respecting any commitments you have

Guaranteed income and job security – hourly rates start at £11.50 with enhanced rates for evenings and weekends, plus paid mileage and lots of great benefits. Our charity is almost 30 years old, and provides you a secure role with scope to develop

A friendly team – We live our values of respect, honesty, learning & development, inclusion and partnership working – you’ll be working with people who want the best for you and will help you with anything you need

Meaningful work – you will literally change people’s lives for the better every day, improving your community and providing you with a feeling of fulfilment. As a Support worker you will help people with disabilities or additional needs to live the life they choose, supporting with daily living skills, attending appointments, finding work and much more.

You don’t need previous experience or qualifications, just to care about people and to want to make a difference. You will build meaningful and lasting relationships with the people you support. You won’t have to do short visits, as our sessions are always a minimum of 1 hour, with many being longer than this to make sure both you and our customers are fulfilled every day.

Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate.

As The Avalon Group meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

Criminal records will be taken into account for recruitment purposes only when the conviction is relevant. Having a ‘spent’ or ‘unspent’ conviction will not necessarily bar you from employment – this will depend on the circumstances and background to your offence(s) and we will consider these on a case by case basis.

The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.
