An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Short Breaks service team in Wakefield (West Yorkshire). As a service that operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, our Clarence Gardens service in Wakefield (West Yorkshire) offers essential respite care for up to four adults with autism, learning disabilities, and/or physical disabilities.
You will play an active role in assisting the Service Managers and Locality Manager with specific management duties, as well as providing hands-on strength-based support to the Avalon guests.
What does the role involve?
- Providing appropriate and thorough induction to the service for new support staff.
- Participating in the locality’s on-call service on a rota basis.
- Supporting the team in a positive and respectful manner, mentoring and coaching staff where required, and identifying areas where further training may be needed.
- Completing medication competencies for support workers.
- Completing all pre-calls.
- Attending reviews for the guests accessing the service.
- Completion of DOL’s paperwork when required.
- Ensuring all support plans and risk assessments are updated as required.
- Have a flexible approach to work and complete any ad hoc tasks when requested/instructed by Service Manager’s
What you need…
- Experience of working in the support sector and knowledge of care certificates
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to be clear, respectful and professional
- Be capable of working well without close supervision
- Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification, or willing to work towards
- Ideally hold a full valid UK driving licence
- To be able to work flexibly and participate in the out of hours on call service.
