Sulina has been supported by Avalon for many years, and is someone who wants to make a big difference to her community.
Sulina regularly asks her support team to assist her in doing fundraising for many deserving charities. And Sulina loves to challenge herself in the process; to put in lots of effort herself to inspire people to donate and to take on challenges of their own.
Recent events have included a sponsored walk to Scarborough Lighthouse and back, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, and completing the Race for Life, which was a long time aspiration of Sulina’s.
Sulina told us: “I was nervous to do it because of my mobility, and I was worried I might not finish the whole event. But my support team helped me with my training, and reassured me that I was getting fitter and stronger all the time. It made me believe in myself and I knew they believed in me.”
You can watch a video of Sulina crossing the finish line to rapturous applause below. Scarborough Service Manager Shelley Thorpe said “We’re always so proud of Sulina, and the effort she puts in to help others. She’s raised thousands of pounds for charities that mean a lot to her, and she has helped others to see their own potential to do more”
